EXPERIENCE A GOD’S IMPACT ON ROCK HISTORY!

JIMI HENDRIX – ARE YOU EXPERIENCED – May 12, 1967

Here is the first album that truly humbles 00individual to review or even speak of.
Up until 1966 BH, Rock ‘n’ Roll even in it’s most outlandish state had unspoken parameters.
With this 1967 AH album there were none  – Hendrix created an art form.

The first time I heard the Jimi Hendrix Experience “Are You Experienced” album was on an 8-track tape in my buddy’s ’52 Chevy. He was into R ‘n’ B and bought the new release tape thinking that the Experience was a new English soul group. We were going to cruise around but once the tape started we sat mesmerized in his parked car.
He had a reverb unit set up in the back which made every 8-track tape have a cool twangy underwater sound. So when he turned up the volume and we heard these songs for the very first time I attributed a lot of what I heard as the reverb crankin’ – but not so, as we listened to this psychedelic sound again – with the reverb off.
It was right there and then on Compass Drive in Westchester “the Home of LAX” in May/June of 1967  that 00individual truly became “experienced”! Groovy!

There are so few in Rock History who actually made history.
Elvis was raw, soulful, real, and his attitude, looks, charisma and voice literally created Rock ‘n’ Roll –  he was the King.
Hendrix had all of those qualities too and he played guitar like each note was the creation of a world – he was the Man.
00individual has many deep thoughts regarding “the Man’s” life on planet Earth – but for now, experience this theory:
Since I can never know the truth of all that I’ve read on Hendrix all I can do is know that during that time of life we were all pushing limits, every day, and they could have good and/or bad consequences; from enlightenment, entertainment, thrills and the best fun ever to permanent psychosis, liver failure, pulmonary aspiration and murder.

This is where simple things like karma become apparent to those interested in life’s details – Hendrix was, Morrison was, heck, we all were; awareness and mind-expansion was where it was at.
Was Jimi’s death suicide, an accidental overdose, murder?
It wasn’t about Jimi’s exit, it was all about Jimi’s entrance – one that had every Rock guitarist
re-evaluate their craft and every Rocker; their life.

So maybe Jimi just needed to make a showing and a statement and turn the Rock World inside out – and then leave – knowing that his music and persona would become truly loved icons that will continue to thrill and bring joy.
And there you have it – a quick theory for the existence of a rare life in history that inspired, amazed, deeply affected and immeasurably impressed generations of music lovers and will continue to do so.
Gods work like that, … yeah, they do!
