EXPERIENCE ROCK HISTORY!
PINK FLOYD – UMMAGUMMA – October 10, 1969
UMMAGUMMA – while slang for the sex act, it was actually a cerebral place where Heads across the Nations met in symbiotic Psychedelic Space.
00individual speaks Tribal Truth; the release of this album was most assuredly the catalyst for
countless hours of LSD trips for Psychonauts, The Counter-Culture and Spacey Hippies courtesy of Pink Floyd’s UMMAGUMMA sounds – a new contender for Electric Ladyland as a LSD Trip Enhancer / Destination.
To psychedelically-evolve with bands, musicians, singers, and composers like Pink Floyd who were five or six years older than 00individual, was a trip in itself.
As Pink Floyd were transforming their psychedelic experiences into recording and performing trip-inducing Space Jams and Righteous Rock, their peer-group fans evolved right along with them.
UMMAGUMMA was a perfect end-of-the-year, end-of-the-decade double album release with two sides of the weird and wonderful and two sides of nearly forty minutes of live masterpieces of classic Psychedelic sounds!
Apparently, to varying degrees, all four members had disdain for this album; much like The Stones feelings towards “Their Satanic Majesties Request”. This is sad because both albums were highly-enjoyable much-appreciated sounds that are historic artifacts of The Psychedelic Era.

00individual graduated high school in February 1969, acquired an art department job, moved out into a beach pad with friends at Pershing Drive, and experienced an amazing year, and year-end cosmic Winter of ’69 – an extremely special time in life for many reasons.
Along with the album release of UMMAGUMMA, 1969 was jam-packed with classics; with possibly the BEST YEAR for ROCK ALBUM RELEASES!

On a Friday night in early December ’69, the full Moon cast a surreal cool blue light across everything leaving dark shadow imprints. A perfect setting for a night of Psychedelic fun.
00individual had just arrived home from work after he made a short stop to see friends. He turned on a lamp, dropped a tablet of MicroDot acid in anticipation of the night’s festivities – whatever they would be – put on Pink Floyd’s new release, UMMAGUMMA, and turned on the Blacklight which “lit up” the vibrant Blacklight poster on the wall.
After taking LSD a few times 00individual developed a Pavlovian Dog reflex that brought on the come on effects – even before ingesting.
It was as if his mind / brain were aware of what was to come to the point of actually mimicking the sensations in anticipation. Very Trippy, indeed. 00individual is his own Lab Rat.
As the first effects of LSD took hold his senses heightened and the slightest physical movement resulted in fine vibratory prism-tinged trails.
As 00individual sat and contemplated the intricacies of the Blacklight poster’s imagery the colors no longer seemed to just be alive and breathing – they were slowly coming off the poster and into the room in slow swirling semi-opaque vaporous distorted patterns. He watched as they moved past him accompanied by the Psychedelic sounds of Pink Floyd and on out through the window and out into the streets.
Too interested in the spectacle, 00individual didn’t hear or see his friends come in to partake in the evening’s fun – whatever it would be.
This was a universal experience for many Psychonauts at one time or another. But it wasn’t Pink Floyd or the acid that made this place on Pershing Drive psychedelic, it was because it was one of those “Places”.
00individual has become aware through personal experience throughout the decades that there are certain Places or areas that resonate a unique feeling – even though the places are far from unique.
This sensory phenomena can be experienced at a specific intersection, or passing by a particular building, or just on a stretch of road. Or even places reached by foot; areas within buildings, parks, streets, a garage … a home.
These Places come with an inexplicable feeling that there’s something going on, like a remembrance from the past or the future. Something either happened there, or is going on there that emanates a strong force of recognition – a feeling that never goes away, not intrusive, just always there to recall. 00individual will safely assume that this, on some levels, is a universal experience for many people.
00individual has yet to define just what those Places are, or the meaning of the “unknown known” feeling, but was fortunate to experience seven solid months at one “Place” with a positive vibe at the beach pad in Playa Del Rey.
During this time period along with the Place and bitchen job, 00individual had a cool 1951 Buick (with a backseat that was like a bedroom), a motorcycle (a Honda 350, but he worked his way up to a classic ’69 Harley-Davidson 900cc Sportster), two girlfriends and all the drugs, weed, pharmaceuticals and psychotropics he wanted – and – he was experiencing Classic Rock Albums and Rock Legends live in concert!
His job was so far out that he hardly remembers working! Every night was a Tribal gathering of friends and free-spirited souls who got high, listened to Classic Rock, joked, laughed and grooved. Every day was a magickal adventure!
00individual offers some proof of the “Otherness” of Pershing Drive in True Psychedelic Trips #5 “The Good”.
He was living within a specific mysterious vibe where something extremely special was happening, in that Place, at that time in history.
Groovy.
