The ROLLING STONES – 11-8-1969 (first show) Fabulous Forum, Inglewood – and – 00’s concern as to what kind of world are we going to leave to Mick and Keith?

EXPERIENCE ROCK HISTORY!

the ROLLING STONES
Ike & Tina Turner Revue
11-8-1969 (first show)
Fabulous Forum, Inglewood (Capacity: 17,000)

Well, the ‘60s fittingly end with the “World’s Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band” – The Rolling Stones!
HISTORIC HUMAN ACHIEVEMENT
The Stones were here for the long haul and history proves it; 55 years after this ’69 tour their 2024 tour is a historic human achievement for the Glimmer Twins, Mick and Keith who are still rockin’ as hard as ever- and both 80 years old!
Let that sink in a bit, in their terms – 80 years YOUNG!

And its not just the length of time, but the life spent during that time that makes them both Immortal Rock Gods. Keith is a supernatural being, for real, no mere human could have survived HALF of his life experience.

00’s main concern is what kind of world are we going to leave for these two immortals?

This was a great concert back when the Forum was still Fabulous. Two concerts were scheduled to take place on the same evening – 7pm and 11pm – And 00 and his semi-girlfriend either got there late or Terry Reid and BB King got bumped due to the delays.  In either case it was a long wait before Ike and Tina hit the stage.
Thankfully 00 and his SGF were good at entertaining each other while they waited.  She was a former “Dating Game” Bachelorette that 00 got to know in 12th grade high school art class. She chose bachelor Luke Halpin of TV’s “Flipper” series. She had recently transferred from another L.A. school and 00 was pretty much the first guy she got to know and they hit it off.  She had it all; beautiful face, great body and a sparkling personality – with that combo it was only natural that she would eventually move on, but not before they had a really good time together and that night was one of those times. They had a decent view from decent seats angled up a bit but to the right of the stage and once again close enough to see Mick and the Boys facial features – there were no big screens back then.

The Ike and Tina Turner Revue really had to pull out the stops to satisfy the overly-patient packed Forum.  And they did; just as James Brown was the “hardest working man in show biz”, Tina Turner easily qualified for the female version!  She exploded with energy; enjoying her resurgence of popularity during her “Proud Mary”-era that set off a solid two decades of hits and iconic imagery associated with her.

The Stones were in fine form and pretty much ripped through the concert, but we knew why – they had freezing fans outside – hey, it gets cold in the winter in L.A. too – we might have to put on a jacket.  But they made up for it at both shows that evening with a killer set; pure gold – they performed early Stones!  “I’m Free”, “Carol”, “Little Queenie”, “Satisfaction” and First Time EVER Live Performance of; “Live With Me”!  And featured songs from the classic, “Beggar’s Banquet” and the masterpiece, “Let It Bleed”.

It was a real thrill to watch and experience history in the making. Unforgettable on all accounts.

This was a historic era for the Stones and the fans and a really great and fun concert.
You know, back when fun was allowed.
