JOHN KONGOS – TOKOLOSHE MAN – 1971
from the album “Kongos”
In the theme of the last Album Track Gem with Velvert Turner’s Hendrix resemblance, we have John Kongos filling the bill enough to warrant the Lennon resemblance.
Intentional or not, this track sounds like Lennon in his rebellious days when his Rock overtook his Pop and is an absolute rebel rouser and profound spiritual humanizer with,” . . And it makes no difference if you’re black or you’re white, when Tokoloshe say tonight is the night, it’s the night.”
So, live together in peace because whether your God – or the supernatural gremlin, Tokoloshe Man – comes callin’, it won’t matter who you are, when your time is up, its up, so do right, Brother, do right.
Enjoy this tribal, high-energy rockin’ classic Album Track Gem:
John not trying to look or sound like John.
Just like there are supposedly only six themes for all books written (mystery, comedy, romance, etc.) and maybe a couple more character types of people, there are also performers who generate a type that becomes iconic – so I’m sure there were thousands of “Johns” back in 1971. Of those Johns, Kongos had talent.
